Storage Hounslow Modern Slavery Commitment
This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Storage Hounslow to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We recognise our responsibility to respect human rights and are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships.
Modern slavery is a serious crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes various forms, including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour and human trafficking. Storage Hounslow is committed to ensuring that these practices have no place within our business or among those who supply goods and services to us.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
Storage Hounslow adopts a clear zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We will not knowingly conduct business with any organisation or individual involved in such practices. All employees, contractors and suppliers are expected to uphold the same high standards and to comply with all applicable laws relating to modern slavery.
Our leadership team is responsible for promoting a culture where ethical behaviour is expected and required. We communicate our zero-tolerance stance internally and externally so that our position is understood by colleagues, customers, and business partners.
Our Supply Chain and Due Diligence
Our supply chain includes providers of property services, maintenance, security, cleaning, equipment, and other operational support. We recognise that some sectors and regions may present higher risks of modern slavery. As a result, we aim to identify, assess, and manage these risks through rigorous due diligence.
Before engaging new suppliers, we assess their ethical standards and labour practices where proportionate to the level of risk. We expect suppliers to comply with all relevant labour, employment, and human rights legislation and to maintain safe and fair working conditions.
Supplier Audits and Ongoing Monitoring
To support our zero-tolerance policy, Storage Hounslow is committed to conducting proportionate supplier audits and checks. These may include requests for information about labour practices, site visits where appropriate, and reviews of relevant policies and certifications held by suppliers.
Where potential concerns are identified, we will engage with the supplier to understand the issue and seek appropriate corrective actions. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to address serious concerns relating to modern slavery, we will review our relationship and may suspend or terminate the business arrangement.
Training and Awareness
We aim to develop awareness of modern slavery risks among relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and facilities operations. Training and guidance focus on identifying warning signs, understanding reporting routes, and reinforcing our zero-tolerance approach.
We also encourage employees to consider the broader human rights impact of business decisions, including the selection and management of suppliers and contractors.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Storage Hounslow encourages anyone with concerns about modern slavery or unethical behaviour related to our operations or supply chain to report them without delay. Employees are encouraged to raise concerns with their line manager or designated senior manager. Contractors, suppliers, and other third parties may share concerns through the agreed business contact or contract manager.
All concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously and handled sensitively. We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against any person who reports concerns or participates in an investigation. Where appropriate, concerns will be investigated and, if necessary, escalated to senior management for action.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that combating modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires vigilance and continuous improvement. Storage Hounslow will review this Modern Slavery Statement and our supporting procedures at least once every year, and more frequently if required by changes in law, guidance, or our business operations.
This annual review will consider the effectiveness of our policies, risk assessments, supplier audits, and training. Where improvements are identified, we will implement appropriate measures to strengthen our approach and further reduce the risk of modern slavery in our business and supply chains.
This statement has been approved by the management of Storage Hounslow and represents our current position and commitments in relation to modern slavery and human trafficking.
